Random Acts Part 1
For my birthday this year I asked my friends to join me in doing something special and/or thoughtful for someone else (stranger or not).
Here is the first part of my list. I am planning to do a minimum of 33 acts for the 33 years I have walked on this earth.
**PLEASE NOTE: These are things I may randomly do already and keep to myself under normal circumstances, but I think I have to share them, to inspire others to pay it forward.
- My friend Tammy took me to lunch as an early birthday present. Since the restaurant is well known for their delicious cupcakes, we paid for 2 cupcakes for the person who came after us. The lady who ran the restaurant said that no one had ever done this before.
- Dropped off $20 (anonymously) at our church’s snack bar to take care of the next few people. Snacks are priced between $ .25 to $2, so I think several people were pleasantly surprised!
- While in line to pay for the lunch buffet for father's day with my family, girls were selling Girl Scout cookies and I overheard a cashier saying she wondered how much they cost so after lunch I gave enough money to the girls to buy two boxes for the cashiers.
- I left twice as much as I would normally leave as a tip at the buffet.
- Gave a small care package of items to a friend which included razors, body wash, deodorant.
- Went in to get a drink at a gas station and bought a $10 gas card. I then took it out to the gas pump and handed it to the first person I saw coming in. He was very surprised, so much that he didn’t know what to say and ended up telling me Happy Father’s Day (me, a woman with no kids)!!
- I bought 4--$5 gift cards to give to people when I feel impressed to, and I have given out two so far!
- I gave quarters to some kids for the gumball machine.
- I ordered Chinese food for dinner and when I ordered it, the sun was shining, but then by the time the food was delivered, it started pouring rain. I gave the guy a $14 tip for coming out in the rain!
To be continued…
Please feel free to share Random Acts of Kindness you have incorporated into your day. Remember it only takes a moment to make someone else feel special. ;)
